What’s the secret to getting more web traffic?
Is it promoting your site in a variety of places?
Or is it maximizing one source of traffic?
I think it’s neither.
My web traffic philosophy is simple:
“Find what’s working and do more of that!” (Tweet This)
It’s a straightforward strategy. You concentrate on the traffic strategies that are working and ignore the rest. It’s like that famous expression: “Starve the Ponies, Feed the Stallions.”
So you might wonder: How do find out what’s working?
Easy… you install and monitor Google Analytics on your site.
In my opinion, Google Analytics is the best tool for monitoring your traffic stats. Unfortunately not many people know where to get started. In this post, I’ll show ten ways to use Google Analytics to increase your web traffic: [click to continue…]
Last week Google made another change to its algorithm.
This is an update they’re calling Search, Plus Your World.
So what is this change?
And how will it affect your Internet business?
Basically Google now includes three factors in an individual’s search results.
These are all taken from a searcher’s Google account and experiences from specific websites:
- Personal Results: Photos, posts and preferences from your Google + account and other Internet properties. This includes what has been shared and things that people in your “Circles” share with you.
- Profiles in Search: Search results from people in your Circles, plus anyone you might want to follow – Based on your interests.
- People and Pages: What people and Google+ pages are related to a specific topic. This will make it easier to follow someone because you can immediately add them to your social account.
It’s the intention of the Search, Plus Your World to incorporate personal contacts into search results. For instance, here’s what I get when I enter the phrase train for a marathon: [click to continue…]
Welcome to the January 2012 edition of the Traffic and Conversion series!

Today’s post is a special one.
That’s because I’m going to provide an overview of how I plan on getting 1 million visitors to this blog in 2012.
This is a major goal that will take a lot of work to achieve.
But I’m fully confident that it can be done.
Before we get to the *meat* of this post, let’s go over the stats from last month: [click to continue…]
The cornerstone of any income-producing website is a strong presence in the Google search engine.
But there is a valuable lesson that many online entrepreneurs learned in 2011…
One wrong move can result in complete disaster.
For instance, last year Google had their infamous Panda Update. [click to continue…]
All Internet businesses need a solid search engine optimization (SEO) strategy.
…And every search engine strategy needs a variety of backlinks.
…And the backlinks need to come from sites with high Google PageRank (PR).
Ultimately it’s these high PR backlinks that determine where your site will rank in the search engines for specific keyword phrases.
The question is – “How do you get a variety of backlinks without wasting a lot of time or money?”
This is something I’ve asked myself in the last few months as I develop my niche affiliate income sites.
When it comes to search engines, I believe in the 4 V’s of backlinks:
- Volume: The quantity of links to your site
- Variety: The number of different links to your site
- Velocity: The speed you get links to your site
- Verbiage: The anchor text on the link to your site
Now there’s one thing that sucks about building backlinks – If you do it wrong, you’ll get “Sandboxed” or even delisted by Google. {This is bad.}
My advice is to think carefully about how you get backlinks to your site. In other words, only get links from sites that Google likes. To help you get started, I’ve found a number of high PR sites where you can get backlinks. [click to continue…]
