And The Winner Is…

I forgot to post this one till now.  A few weeks back, I held a contest for a $100 Amazon Gift Certificate.

The rules were simple.  The person who had the best idea for an information product would receive the prize.

Now there were a lot of excellent suggestions, and I’d like to thank everyone who submitted an idea. But as they say in Highlander, ‘there can be only one.’

The winner is…

…Gail from the Paying Hobby website.

Gail came out of nowhere and has been regularly posting comments to this site.  Actually, I urge you to go back and read some of what she’s written because they definitely add value to a lot of the topics I disucss.

Anyway, Gail’s idea was to create a time management/project management course for an online business.  I feel this can be a great product because almost everybody has a excellent ideas, but most simply don’t have the skills to take an idea and turn it into a plan of action.

Introducing Steve Scott’s Father???

Here’s where it gets interesting… I’ve been exchanging a few emails with my dad and he’s come up with his own system for managing your life.  He’s had a lot of success in the business world.  And part of this success comes from the lessons he’s learned about managing time and projects.

Right now, he’s perfecting a system that only requires a few pieces of paper to run your entire life.

To be honest, I’m pretty excited about what he’s creating.  I’ve seen a few rough drafts and I’m tinkering with implementing this system as I travel through Europe.  Hopefully we’ll have something more concrete in the early part of 2011.

A BIG Thanks!

Again, I’d like to give a big thanks to those who left a comment.  Next time, maybe I’ll have a few prizes instead of one because it was hard to pick a winner.

Take Action. Get Results.

    • First let me say thanks to Steve for the win. I’m glad you liked the idea, and am looking forward to seeing what you (and your father) come up with.
@Mark, I plan to spend the money on books or ebooks that will help me with developing my business plan and blogging business, but feel free to share your ideas, lol.

      • Gail,

Well, I think you’re heading in a good direction, so I wouldn’t want to be sowing any seeds of doubt in your mind.

But now that you’ve asked,… 😀 (Okay, I know you just said “feel free”) I was thinking, how about “pay it forward”? Announce a contest on your blog and have your readers give you ideas like how Steve just got some great ones. After all, the value of ideas is priceless.

Oh wait, before you say no to the idea,… maybe you could spend half of it on your idea and the other half on mine? 🙂

        • @Mark,
I like your idea, and had already toyed with it, but I have two issues:
          1) My readership just isn’t big enough just yet to support the competition
2)I’m in the middle of blogging my way through creating my business plan

          So how about this:
I plan to spend the voucher on books to help me build my business, and when I get to the stage where I’m ready to create my first product, run a similar competion to Steve’s, mentioning where I got the idea from and how winning Steve’s competition helped me.

By my reckoning, I should be looking at creating a product anywhere between 1-3 months from now, so you’ll have plenty of time to follow along on the blog and see which way I’m headed 😉

  1. Great to see you guys are bouncing ideas off one another. To give you an idea of what books to read, I’ll have a resource page that I’m trying to finish up by the end of the day. Here I’ve included some of my favorites.

@Gail- I received your business plan… Right now, I’m completely swamped and trying to catch up. I’ll be able to get to it within the next few days.
